Trauma remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide and a well-organized and experienced emergency response system is essential for any hospital to cope with mortality and morbidity related to trauma.
Our Accident and Trauma Care unit (Casualty) is fully equipped with state-of-the-art life saving equipment conforming to international standards. Among the most important is our latest Cardiac and Whole Body Multi Detector CT Scan (available only in 1 or 2 hospitals in the area so far). This machine enables us to tackle any form of emergency and is able to accurately detect multiple injuries/illness in just a few minutes. Our dedicated emergency team is constituted of ATLS-trained paramedics and a panel of eminent doctors spanning varied specialties like Trauma surgery, Orthopedics, Maxillofacial surgery, Neurosurgery and Plastic surgery. This team is available round-the-clock and is committed to saving lives.
Emergency Room is the "point of first contact" to the hospital at the time of any medical crisis
An ED requires different equipment and different approaches than most other hospital divisions. Patients frequently arrive with unstable conditions, and so must be treated quickly. They may be unconscious, and information such as their medical history, allergies, and blood type may be unavailable. Our ED staff are trained to work quickly and effectively even with minimal information.
Our 24 hours Emergency Care guarantees you the highest levels of skill, expertise and infrastructure. Our protocols are designed to respond quicker, and have proven outcomes that are on par with the very best in the world. We actively leverage our multi-specialty prowess to deliver the crucial edge in emergency care.
We have cardiologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons and trauma specialists who are on 24×7 standby for expert care during a medical emergency. Our long years of experience has taught us the value of every minute.
Our ED has separate triage area. With support of technology and equipments like Ventilator, defibrillator, resuscitation cots and high-end cardiac monitors makes this facility handle any kind of medical emergencies.
The Emergency services are available 24/7, 365 days a year. All kinds of medical emergencies are managed by the emergency room. The paramedics and medical staff are BLS and ACLS certified by the American Heart Association. The emergency room has a fleet of fully equipped ambulances stationed at various locations to facilitate easy access in an emergency.
The ER accommodates all kinds of medical emergencies stroke, MI, Road traffic accidents, domestic accidents, snake bite, paralysis, Head Injury, Drug overdose, poison intakes, Airway obstruction etc.
ER Team also plays a lead role in hospital cardiac arrest management (Code Blue)
IMPORTANCE OF GOLDEN HOUR
Stroke is the leading cause of disability among adults globally. The importance of early intervention (such as tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) within three hours of onset of ischaemic stroke or surgical intervention in hemorrhagic stroke) is well known to prevent permanent disability and mortality by 37% otherwise caused by stroke.
Trauma is treated by a trauma team who have been trained using the principles taught in the internationally recognized Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course. The services that are provided in an emergency department can range from x-rays and the setting of broken bones to those of a full-scale trauma centre. A patient's chance of survival is greatly improved if the patient receives definitive treatment within one hour of an accident (Mortality decreased by 16%). This critical time frame is commonly known as the "golden hour".
Nearly 800,000 of the 1 million patients hospitalized with acute heart failure (AHF) every year are initially treated by emergency physicians. Signs and symptoms are typically most severe at initial presentation, but with timely diagnostic and therapeutic management, rapid improvement can be achieved. The first hour after the onset of a heart attack is called the golden hour. Appropriate action within the first 60 minutes of a heart attack can reverse its effects.
This concept is extremely important to understand because most deaths and cardiac arrests occur during this period. However, if the person reaches the hospital and gets treated within this period she or he can expect near-complete recovery
